London to Porlock, Somerset - Road suggestions
Discussion
Good PH'ers,
heading down to Porlock near Minehead in Somerset from East London on Friday. Apart from the glaringly obvious motorways i will have to use, can anyone suggest any little gems fo B or A roads i can divert on to?
Just got back from a massive eurotrip, have been couped up in my office and am craving a blast!
Thanks
Chris

Get as far as Taunton and then do this. That's a regular route I do, including the loop up Porlock Hill and down the toll road. The B3224 is lovely, quite open in most places, plenty of spots for overtaking and usually quite quiet.
If you get chance as well, try the A396 between Wheddon Cross and Bampton

Don't worry about the roads getting there. Just get to Porlock and spend all the time you've saved trying to drive up the Toll Road quicker than this!

if your coming down the m4 and onto the m5 get off at bristol and wind down behind clevdon, weston, though burnham and bridgwater, though taunton and then along the main road to minehead, its a good route, lots of nice sweeping bends and speedy long straights
Did this and was great but unfortunately there was quite a bit of traffic on the road, still i will remember it for next time!Gassing Station | Roads | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
