I would appreciate advice from more experienced PHers. Last time I left a place of business near Woking at 2.30pm on a Friday, joined the M25, and went nowhere. I have to repeat that journey again this Friday. Given the potential for even more M25 carnage (expecting the mass getaway for the start of the school holidays), I am trying to choose a route that gets me to the Beaconsfield services (to then go up the M40) that doesn't use the M25.

Would taking the A322, through to Windsor then Slough (A355) work? Are there better alternatives? I don't know the area at all.

TIA

That bit of M25 on a Friday isn't usually too awful at that time. However if you want to avoid the M25 you could try:

A322 to Bracknell
A329 to M4 Junction 10
M4 to Junction 8/9 Maidenhead
A404 to M40 High Wycombe

It should all be moving ok apart from the last bit of A404 up to M40.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to drive through Slough!biggrin

This.

Not just because it's Slough, but the A355 is hell - it just doesn't move.
