Did a little road trip with the SL (that's why I brought it to be honest) from Hampshire down to Nice and Monaco via the Alps both Ways. Few pictures for your viewing and I cannot convey how stunning the roads and senery are! If you can do it!

Picture of the car O/S a small hotel we stopped at 1 night, hardly 5 star but it had running water and food for 20 euros for both of us so cant complain!

Picture of my mates 997 Turbo who came along.... stupidly fast car!

Picture of the group minus me - included 2 biker mates

Some general shots

One side of the highest peak in Europe - Col De La Bonnetti - did do the last little loop around the top that you see as the road was still shut due to snow so only managed the x roads at the top of the main road. Its only 100metres lower so no great shame.

Small hotel which opened up just for us!

Small furry rodent things that I was made to stop so she could feed them apples!

Picture of all 4 units on the way back down the Col.

Yes, those roads do look impressive! Did you get to drive on the edge of any mountains?

I did something similar just a few weeks ago too but only managed just under 2000 miles. I didn't go beyond Framnce and most of my time was spent near Voiron/Grenoble & Chambery, as I have family out there and also got to visit some friends on holiday too. The E39 M5 averaged 22.9mpg, which made me think I need to do it in a Toyota IQ next time. Perhaps not.

My biggest gripe were the peage tolls. 101 Euros in 2 weeks and we complain about £280 or so a year!

I think it'll be Germany/Austria next year
