Evening all,

I need to be at Gatwick by about 9am for a flight next week, when do you reckon I should set off from the Potters Bar/Enfield type area? I presume the M25 is preferable to dropping down onto the North Circular/A13 for the trip?

Leave silly early, say before 6am and if you get there early enjoy a fry up and a Bloody Mary at the pub once through security.

I'd rather do that then fret about missing the flight.

I would say about 6am as above.

From there not sure whether clock or anti-clockwise is better on M25.confused

Think i would risk clockwise over Dartford bridge etc as western section can be awfulsmile

Google maps suggested same and 1 1/4 hour journey from Enfield but if you do it in that

time it'd be a miracle

I have to do this journey a lot. M25 clockwise. You will get held up at the bridge and M20 filter.
If you won't anticlockwise it would be start stop from junction 18 to 9. Even if you went this way 3 hours should be plenty of time.
One last thing if it's a Monday leave another half hour earlier.

Clockwise definitely. There can be alot of congestion around J13 during rush hour so watch out.

Cheers gents. After much suffering at the hands of anti-clockwise trips round the M25 I was thinking clockwise and double the journey time suggested on Google maps, so that would indeed be a 6am start. Let's hope they do a good full English at Gatwick...

def this.
monday mornings and friday afternoon/evenings are normally the busiest.
clockwise leaving at 6, (i'd go 530) you should be ok till the bridge, but reckon you will queue abit before it, and then all the way to the tolls, although it normally keeps moving. then you should be ok till j4, from there you may well be abit stop start down the big hill to where the m26 joins the m25, and also sticky normally upto clacketts lane services, from there on, to the m23 split should be ok, guess then, you'll just slow up abit before the gatwick exit.
