It's the southern end of the Edenfield bypass, now the A56; the M66 hasn't yet been built in that pic (it starts at that junction and heads south) wink .

Not really, I used to live in a house just off the top of the picture and remember the diggers etc, going up and down during construction.

Driven through there many times and didn't recognize it, didn't even know it was called Edenfield (shows how much attention I pay to road signs) I always referred to it as "The road to Costco". hehe

I was on Google streetview following the road to familiarize myself with the junction and found something odd. When on the southbound lanes heading towards Manchester, skies are grey and winter appears to be in full effect. Switch to the northbound lanes and it is a sunny, summery day. smile
