Yes, something small and nimble is required.
Roadwise you've got Hardknott and Wrynose nearby. And the drive round Tarn Howes is very pretty.
Thanks. The fleet is up to date and I think the Cayman probably is the weapon of choice. A mate will also be there in an Elise so if we have time we will check out the local roads and report back. Roadwise you've got Hardknott and Wrynose nearby. And the drive round Tarn Howes is very pretty.
Cheers

Hardknot Pass is fantastic. Seriously tricky at this time of year though, especially in anything powerful and rear wheel drive. You will be tempted to push it which is not a good idea. The only route that I find genuinely intimidating.
Will go for a drive on it. I've ridden up it and Wrynose on a pushbike (which was seriously tricky - my knee exploded....) and didn't instantly see it as a good driving road although thinking about it despite it being quite narrow there's good visibility if I recall correctly. Thanks

I think you need to be up early to have any fun in the Lakes, it's always busy and slow and quite dangerous with walkers and cyclists around every bend.
Wrynose and Hardknott are spectacular but not great hooning roads. If you do a loop from Coniston over these I can recommend turning left to go over the Birker Fell road to Ulpha. This is a great road when it's quiet. The A593 to Torver is a fast roller coaster too but look out for corners on crests.

Lots and lots of good roads, I went there in May last year when it was actually sunny for a few days and did the below route. I'm going to have to go back later this year and do it again.

You can't drive round Tarn Hows unless you have a Lambo (tractor). There is only a footpath. You can drive up to TH, stopping off at the Drunken Duck on the way; park in the NT car park and walk. Very nice walk.Roadwise you've got Hardknott and Wrynose nearby. And the drive round Tarn Howes is very pretty.
Nutsytvr.
