A wee Highland road trip last sunday

The weather wasn't too good but there was sun, so myself and MacRoo junior headed out for a run. Basically, we left the Black Isle and headed north on the A9 until we got to Skiach services, where we turned onto the B9176.

This takes you over the Struie, which is a more direct line to Ardgay and Bonar Bridge, than sticking to the A9.

A great section of road - twisty with a few nice straights on it and of course a cracking viewpoint





From there we took the A836 and the A837 past Rosehall and headed for the Ledmore Junction. The roads are mainly single track but with a bit of care and a keen eye to watch out for lorries, you could motor along.





Turning onto the A835 tkes you onto the Ullapool road which was fairly quiet for a sunday - not much traffic on the way down - stopping off at Loch Glascarnoch for the necessary photo



From then it was back home to the Black Isle, along the long straights at the Black Water.

A great day out to dodge the showers and chase the sun

Should have said - 124 miles in total and reckoned I got about 29 mpg - maybe I need to use a bit more right foot

It is possible to make very good progress on the A835.
