Dukes Pass in Scotland on a Sunday drive.

Road was bumpy in places so it some points off the drive score! :roll:

Enjoy;

Nice. Will be our first proper road on a 3-day tour starting Tues morning.

You will enjoy it i'm sure. Just be wary of the road surface in places, kept me from going that little bit quicker.

At least you managed to get past the motorbike after not too long.
And it was reasonably quiet, at least in your direction.

Not been on the Pass for a while, maybe need to put it on the 'to-do' list for after getting new tyres!

I loved that road when I went up Scotland last year, if you are heading up from the south try and take in the Dalveen Pass on the way up. It's even better in my opinion

Nice one. thumbup

We had it all to ourselves with 13 cars attacking it on Friday 19th en route to Ullapool. Looks like there were some damp patches in your vid. Brilliantly sunny day when we did it.

The A702 up Dalveen is much more open and a lot faster, so not a fair comparison. For something a bit more challenging try the B797 Wanlockhead/Leadhills road up the Mennock Pass. Narrower, twistier, and over 100 metres higher.

Good shout, google street view is a fantastic idea! Lets you see the road before you try it. That's what i do with all my trips but as Dukes Pass proves, google maps does not show the true experience as i was slightly disappointed in the surface distance of the road.

Did the Dukes Pass this morning as the first 'proper' road of our 3 day tour. Brilliantly twisty like a rollercoaster. Surface was broken in places so you have to be careful of gravel and mud in the braking zones.
Top fun though and certainly warmed the tyres and brakes up nicely.

I did this 3 years ago in my old Clio 200 & didn't pass another car in the 3hrs I was playing in the hills. Fantastic roads & very quiet if you hit it at the right time..... Just watch out for suicidal sheep.
