Mentioned in the new issue(186) during the 50k roadsters test.

"A mini pikes peak before plummeting and zig-zagging through a shady pine forest..."

The photos should give it away to any familiar with the area /a local road rally favourite...

Any suggestions?

There's only one identifiable pic - the full page hillside shot on p111. There are a couple more of a leafy singletrack, but I think the later two-lane pics are back on the Black Mountain road.

The opening paragraph - after the above description - says "it's become part of the local road rally fraternity's holy ground and, therefore, the exact position must remain a secret" paperbag

Sorry can't help with the location, other than it's in the Carmarthen area as stated in the text.

Agree the two lane shots look like the Black Mountain road.

Don't think it would be good form to post up photos/breach copyright particularly as the magazine is just out!

I wondered whether Chris Harris might have used some of the route on his A45/M135i video - http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...

Interesting at say 1:18 or 1:42 in the video (or is that the early B4560 hairpin, it's been a while...)

Also at 2.50 neat hairpin sequence..And at 3:15 you get the long tree lined straight...?

Maybe post it in the South Wales section for the locals to see?

A guy in the Welsh forum suggested Llyn Brianne.

Think it makes sense distance wise /plus description of a road looking more dramatic than the normal black mountain roads. There's also a pine forest there. Roads don't get much more demanding than the roads around there including the Devils staircase!

This photo from a google images search looks close to the photo on p11 of the magazine.

Hmmmm, it could be the Lake Brianne road, it's great road, but not one I'd choose to drive quickly with any real degree of commitment.
I was up there a couple of months ago in the 1M, along with a mate in his CSL.
As "lead gunner" I encountered a large logging truck using all the road, a tractor doing the same and what appeared to be a couple of locals in Land Rovers going about their business.

Shady pine forest can be seen here :

Great approach road :

But you must remember that on Planet Troy Queef (aka Evo) the roads are always clear so you can fully explore the subtle transition between under and oversteer post apex as you skilfully exploit the weight transfer on this reassuringly expensive supercar(continues on page 87)..
