Planning on going to Pwllheli Gwynedd camping for the weekend and would like some recommendations on driving roads in the area? Ill be leaving Early afternoon from Oxford so don't fancy going too far off piste but I know there are some splendid roads off that way!

Can't pretend to be too knowledgeable about welsh roads but I have used the A44 from Oxford to Rhayader a few times and traffic permitting is a nice drive. Saying that, going across the Brecons is fantastic also.

Nah, M40,M6,M54 then bit of A5 to Nesscliffe then turn left towards Knockin and take the fantastic B4396 then B4391 up and over The Berwyn mountains (fantastic views from the top)

Down into Bala then A4212 up and towards llyn Celyn then take the B4391 (Again , and this is the best bit of all ) and head to Llan Ffestiniog and on to join the A470 again at Maentwrog. Follow the road past Porthmadog on the new By-pass and take in fabulous views of Snowdon and then follow the coast down to Pwhelli .

Absolute nirvana and about 3 and a half hours with little or no traffic.
