Hello,

A friend of mine is planning to travel from Nice to Calais on Saturday and his sat nav takes him through either Lyon or Paris. Due to expected traffic he'd like to avoid either. Long shot, but can anyone offer a suitable route?

Thanks,
Phil

we came back last week from Switzerland and stuck with the A26, it was me and do this google route.

was surprised the tolls weren't more money but it was worth it no traffic till nearly in Calais for us.

Brilliant! Thank you. I really thought that this was too specific a request and I wouldn't get an answer. thumbup

if memory serves me right we did just south of Dijon > Dole to Calais in about 4hr - 4hrs 30min
that's including a stop for lunch at an Autogrille so maybe your friend is looking at double that

Paris easy to avoid, just follow signs to Dijon then Reims then Calais, nav will pick it up. It's also signposted Paris on this route but that peels off further up.

Lyon has a decent motorway network around it, wouldn't be too worried about the traffic there to be honest if you follow the above route looking for signs to Villefranche.
