Cheltenham to Bath on a friday afternoon?

Hi all,

I'm going to visit some friends in Bath next Friday, I think I'll hit Cheltenham on the m5 around 4:30. What's the best way to get around Bristol?

I would be tempted to go this way:

I'd go J13 > eastington > frocester to the A46. Going via Ciren on Friday rush hour is a hiding to nothing, it'll likely take you longer than the M4/5 carpark.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of cutting across as suggested. What time does the M5/M4 junction become a car park? I could always leave earlier...

I think it started around 1989 and has never eased up
