First RWD. Where to practice near high Wycombe?!
Discussion
Hey everyone
So I've just bought a Cadillac CTS. It's my first RWD and wanna practice drifting, handling, general car stuff.
I'm either looking for an old airfield, big open space or open car park with out cameras kinda thing.
Can anyone recommend anything? I live in High Wycombe, Bucks.
Thanks in advance!

No, I've just looked it up, and Abingdon is near Oxford and an old RAF base used now for some air shows and some car clubs
Bovingdon as far as I'm aware is only used for the market on Saturday?
Exactly. Abingdon is near Oxford, rather than Wycombe, while Bovingdon is on the Wycombe side of Hemel.Bovingdon as far as I'm aware is only used for the market on Saturday?
But perhaps you should tell these people?

Not local to you but there are drifting days at Oulton park on their separate low grip circuit if you are into that.

I've done a couple of sprint events on that circuit, interesting lessons to be learned in the use of throttle, brakes (and the handbrake) and steering!!
Wingo.

I don't have any advice to offer on location, but a mate of mine who's into his trackdays did once offer me the following advice.
When you get to the point where you feel your rear tyres need replacing, book yourself a drifting day, and a slot at the nearest tyre shop to the circuit (on the same day).
The thinking here is that you're not destroying perfectly good tyres whilst you learn how to drift. You'll also need to be less aggressive with the throttle/steering if the tyres are on their way out anyway, which will put less stress on the oily bits of your pride and joy. The idea of having your tyres replaced at a shop near the circuit is so you avoid driving home on potentially illegal/unsafe/destroyed tyres.

Ragging it around private land without permission is not really a good idea.
You need to know who to ask and, even if you do, the chances are you won't get it.
Drift Limits at Bovingdon (link already posted) is a little over 15 miles from High Wycombe
