Had to go to Newmarket yesterday, decided to go from Clare (the village !) to Newmarket on the B1603.

Best decision I have made in weeks, if anyone knows a better road in Suffolk I have yet to see it.

The B1603 is a B road but I think B stands for the "Bloomin 'eck" that you say at the end of it.

Full of fast and slow open bends, low hedges / banks so you can see whats coming, all joined together by big wide straights, whenever I cam upon another road user (somehow they all seemed slower than me for some reason) there was a nice straight or a curvey bit wide enough and with enough vision to be able to go past them. Then occaisionaly you get a nice little village to burble through.

Great road.

Problem was there was a garage at the end of it with a car I wanted to see, by the time I had got there the car would have had to be bloomin good to make me change, problem was solved for me, someone had bought it the day before so I( never got to decide.

Sounds better than the A14 to many speed camera's

I remember holding the Fiesta at a steady 90 all the way from Felixstowe to Bury St Ed about 11 years ago before the Gatso's arrived
