Good roads North West/North East/Borders
Discussion
What are some fun roads in these general areas that could be incorporated into a bit of a biking trip?
To try and narrow this down
- I can't use motorways,
- Scenery is next most important; it can have the coolest set of bends in the country to ride but if it's just house after house then no thanks.
- Places of interest to stop along it would be good.
- Not too steep with the hills (lake district may be an issue despite being beautiful, only got a 125).

Barnard Castle has the Castle and the Bowes Museum
The B6277 (first link) takes you past the car park for High Force.
Look out for the brown tourist sign before you reach the hotel.
The other link takes you past Kielder Water and Forest Park.

Take A68 N at Otterburn , cross border at Carter Bar , next left towards Hawick , left down B6357 via Wauchope Foerst etc and then just keep driving until you end up in Canonbie. Empty , gorgeous and a drive you'll remember. But don't tell anybody ...
You can start a long way south of Otterburn on A68 of course , and if you like the idea of travelling a really ancient route. then start in York and follow what was Dere Street when the Romans built it - eventually this turns into A68 to Edinburgh
