Decent Roads around Guildford?

Hello PH,

We have an owners club meet coming up next weekend and we've decided to change location to a nice pub (The Mill) in Elstead which is next to Godalming/Guildford.

Does anybody know of a decent drive around there ? I tried to map something out on Google Maps but since I've never stuck to B roads only in that area, I am not sure how fun it would realistically be for spirited driving.

Any input would be highly appreciated.

The Petworth road down through Chiddingfold is a lovely drive, but it is a 50 limit all the way to the West Sussex border, so may not give much opportunity for a spirited drive unless early morning or late evening. I did the latter a couple of Sundays back, and it was superb.

I'd be interested to know your opinion of the Mill at Elstead, as I'm considering it for a meet for my club. Always looks nice when I've driven past.

A272 between Petersfield and Petworth is a good one, you can come off towards Haslemere or Fernhurst (TVR garage there). Just watch out for the police.

If you are coming from the north add in Pirbright Bends and roads down to south of the Hogs Back

The Mill has a good car park, only eaten there once. The Barley Mow at Tilford is on the green and nicer on a sunny day
