M4 to Builth Wells - stop off locations?

After the award for the most boring post, but planning ahead for our journey on Friday morning. We'll have 2 dogs who will need a couple of stops (and I'm sure so will Mrs ZS).
Travelling from the M4 to Builth Wells, Google suggests M4->A449->A40->A479->A470. Plan is to stop at the services at J23A on the M4, but after that it looks a bit empty
Any suggestions on other locations in between?
