I went through the tunnel for the first time ever on Tuesday only to meet the huge tailback caused by the bad accident in the M25 just north of it. We diverted off at the first junction north and ended up doing a loop back further up.

beforehand I had signed up in the TfL app and set up autopay but I don t seem to have paid anything. I can t seem to find anywhere where I can see if knows anything either .

I went in the .gov site but that just seems to let me pay without a check if I owe anything.

I am not that lucky to get away with it so does anyone have a link to check if I need to pay, or does it get scrubbed because of the tailback and diversion that was in place?

I don t really want a fine to come through the post!

TFL don t cover the Dartford crossing so signing up to autopay with them won t help unfortunately.

Google pay Dartford crossing and you ll end up in the right place. I don t think they will be able to tell if you need to pay though.

The good thing is that in my experience (at least 5 times when changing number plates/cars, etc and forgetting to update my account) they let you off your first offence so you ll get a letter but the bill will be the crossing fee only.

I don't think it will matter what happens to you after you've gone through the tunnel, if you went through it then you'll need to pay.

If you didnt pay before midnight on the day you’ll be fined BUT if its your first offence then they waiver the fine and you just pay the crossing fee.

In a similar vein for this road, have heard the fee is going up a pound to 3.50 per crossing

And you might be surprised where most of that goes.....

Sorry wrong, a lot of people believe this, the vast majority of the money goes to our own bloody government, tax the motorist as much as you can, so what they lose in fuel tax revenue they gain back with a quarter of a billion a year for a bridge that was bought and paid for decades ago.
