Recommendations - Day trip near Manchester; pub & play park?

Hi all,

I’m looking to take the wife and two children out for a scenic drive at some point over the next few weeks. Any road/route recommendations that would:

1) be scenic/interesting to look at
2) allow me to make use of my M4’s potential (without potholes/cameras/lots of traffic)
3) have a decent lunch stop (pub preferred) with a play area for the youngsters
4) be within a couple of hours’ drive from Manchester

Does such a thing exist?

Had good enjoyable drives near Sheffield/Glossop, Hebden Bridge/Todmorden and further on (Goathland/Whitby). Also to Dovestone Reservoir, multiple times.
Just me and the Mrs, plus the dog (passed away last summer). Farm shop cafes can be good, if pricey.

Tempted to do a partial North Wales run myself in a near future.
