Hungary and Romania roads ?
Discussion
if you take the road east from budapest to oradea (rom) allow plenty of time.
a) the road is so deeply rutted that it's almost impossible to overtake (bit like scalextric).
b) bent (allegedly) cops will stop you for speeding every few miles and try to line their back pockets ... just act dumb (easy for me ..
)and don't pay them .... bona fide tickets are payable at the local "post offices".
c) lots of old, slow, smokey trucks.
if travelling from budapest, take the road south east, to arad, into rom.
d
edit: ps - take as much documentation as you can to describe the intentions of your visit ... should help through the dreadful customs mayhem at the romania side of the border posts.
pps - there is a road tax sticker to buy (usually at an office on the service area) as you hit hungarian motorways.
