It's a very long time ago, but, I seem to remember the coast road was a giggle. Goes through Porlock, one of, if not THE steepest hills in the country. Not sure where you'd pick it up from, somewhere off the M5 I would guess.

I've not done this route since the link road was built. Propbably stuffed with scameras! Try it though and report back.
