After reading millband's post of the Road to Applecross I thought I'd share my trip the week before last to the highlands.

We based ourselves at Ayr and Fort William and did the following routes:

Here is a selection of (badly taken) pictures of a really great driving break....

Fort William William to the very North and Back

Sky and Mull...

I just couldn't resist doing a bad Evo copy...(page 91 EVO number 115)

Some days were hot....

Some were cold....

Anyway; just as many have said before - you must do the highlands - the driving, the people and the place is just great.

Brilliant. Looking forward to a Scottish break myself later this year...

Very nice, can't wait until I get a decent car so I can do a trip like that.

That looks amazing Peter, thanks for sharing. I've done some of the roads you've picked, and the rest are on my "must do" list.

Mull I have to visit for sure, and I'd love to get up past Ullapool again - I meant to this weekend but spent too long taking pictures and not enough time making progress.

Looks great - did many of those roads last year in late May on the touring holiday I'd been promising Mrs E for 20 years. In fact 2 or 3 of the photos I have are almost carbon copies of yours.

It is fabulous there. I used to camp at Ardmair Bay with my brothers and dad. Went back in the Autumn with my TVR, and a chickadee. Just breathtaking - not just the girl.
