Finally I've gotten round to putting the video together of our trip from last May(!)

Here is the link, Clicky it's about 20 minutes long, it's not very easy to fit 2500 miles of fun into a video, but I've tried my best. Apologies about the lack of engine noise in some of the footage, but the mic on the camera is not the best.

Enjoy, and I'll do a right up with some pictures soon

Thanks Mark for putting up that footage. Will you be putting anymore up, particularly driving along the Cote D’Azure?

I drove to the south of France last summer and came back via Lake Como. My girlfriend got about 3 hours of views from the car. Unfortunately her camcorder works on tape, so we will be getting it transferred onto DVD. If I can figure out how to do it, I'll post my trip pictures up.

I've just invested in a new camcorder and will be filming my journey to Carcassonne, Andorra and Biarritz in June.

In conclusion, thanks for making the effort, I really enjoyed the result and look forward to reading your written report.

I have about 40 minutes of the Col Du Turini if that's the bit you are talking about? I'll sort it out next week and let you know where it is.

Thanks for the comments smile

All and anything that shows blue skies, palm trees or interesting terrain works for me.

It's a pity that PH don't show how many people viewed the topic. That would give a much better feedback as to how popular it was.

Thanks for sharing - looked like a great driving!

Mont Ventoux on a clear day - a sublime drive! Pity about the camper vans, but it looked like you caught them at the right place biggrin

Another thumbup for the Col du Turini - one of my other favourites.

Ending a trip like that at the old Reims GP circuit was absolutely spot-on.

Q: How do you get the google earth stuff into your vids? Would love to be able to do that for an upcoming vid around the Elan Valley and Breacons.
This was my teaser vid from our 5 day tour back in 2005

Fantastic!

Would love to do something similar myself when on our trip later this year. What did you use - a "conventional" video camera or a bullet cam.....?

Cheers,

You need to have Google Earth Pro, and it allows you to make a video. It's not the fastest process in the world, but the results are quite nice.

I have a bullet camera from RF Concepts, which I picked up off ebay. This is recorded using a Canon MV700i, again from ebay. It's stuck on the windscreen using this suction mount from Maplin. All in about £200 I think, which isn't bad. However, the sound is a little ropey and only mono. I'm not sure if they are any better now though, I guess mine is a few years old now.
