I reckon the police & military say their numbers along the lines of:
A1 = A one
A12 = A twelve
A331 = A three three one
but I now get on the radio

A 6024 = A sixty twentyfour instead of
A six oh two four

which is irritating - or am I just easily irritated?
Anyone confirm the official line please?

According to a communications course I recently went on ,run by a military gent ,correct way of passing the info is -

A1 =Alpha one
A12 =Alpha one two
A331 =Alpha three three one

etc .
All letters are spoken using the phonetic alphabet with numbers spoken individually (eg -331 =three three one)

Yep, with the exceptions of exact hundreds and tens, e.g. A four hundred, A three twenty.

Althought if you do try and say thirtyone, you will always say the last number louder then the first number... Now try sayig this over a radio.

For quality wise three, one, will be heard better then thirtyone

Possibly for everyday chat it is called the A thirty eight, but as said -to remove any ambiguity ,provide clarity and prevent missunderstandings ,the correct radio(or telephone ) proceedure is to call the road alpha three eight .

I often take the A four hundred and nineteen to work.
