south down the A3, off at the Painshill roundabout, through Cobham, right at Waitrose and just cruise from there smile Loads of great driving roads round there.

Where in London are you? If your in the west there's a couple of rather good ones just out of Ickenham off the A40, it's actually within the M25

Guys, I was actually thinking the same thing, I've got an Evo 9 and wanna streatch her legs a bit, I live South West of the river in Clapham, so not far from the A3. Would quite fancy a Saturday morning blast. Any other good roads you can recommend, going south west along the A3 towards Portsmouth?

head for junction 8 of the M25 then head south into Betchworth, rusper, newdigate, leigh, charlwood and just keep going round and round between all those hamlets

cant think of anywhere remotely good inside the M25

This one is about as good as it gets within the M25. It's twistier than it looks on the map, actually a very good drive. Though not much use for someone living in Holborn

Get on the M20 and as soon as you go across the M25 take any of the next couple of exits. Within minutes you will be in B road heaven.

Hey, if your prepared to go a long enough way down the A3, the A272 towards winchester (west), or the A272 towards Pullbourough East are lots of fun. Going east only really gets good after Midhurst though.

very good

i used those roads a lot

Ranmore common rd is one of my all times faves... a real bonkers scenic railway ride, just stuninng if you take it properly fast when no one is around.

Just make sure you have a properly honed car with good body control and a decent amount of profile. Not some kiddy german repmobile on bumpsteer-city 23" rims and 0.3 nanomenter rubber.

Good for London, granted, but it seems to be permanently busy and many of the corners aren't as well sighted as they might be.

Go further out into Essex, Herts or Beds and there are some which blow this away. The very last stretch of the B1004 from Hertford to Bishops Stortford (after you turn off at Much Hadham) is superb.

If you're 'north of the river' (or even if you're not I guess) you might want to check out the PH North London meet next month:
