Hi there, first topic for me, I read a lot of peoples routes on here, and found out about some great roads due to this forum, but now I'm going to ask a question.

I come from the Romford/Hornchurch area in Essex, and will be going Oulton park for the weekend of BTCC in a few months time. The plan is to go direct to Oulton park on Friday morning, as we will be full of camping gear food and drink. Then On Monday morning we will be leaving. Now since I'm a little explorer, and our cars will be slightly lighter I wanted to go on a detour of up to 100 extra miles (mate doesn't seem keen on that so maybe 50miles).

The direct route is here. Now this is rather boring, but gets us there fast for Friday. On way home I was thinking going up towards Manchester, across the peak district, then down m1, a14, m11 or something. I'm really not sure.

300Hornchurch road isn't my home address its our local Tesco/meeting place smile

Off the top of my head....

Leave Oulton, and take the A49 south towards Whitchurch and - subsequently - Shrewsbury.

As you approach Shrewsbury, you'll see a sign for Battlefield Church on the right; at the next dual island, follow the signs for Telford / M54. Next two islands, take exit 2. At the next island, take the 3rd exit. At the next island, take the 1st exit (this'll be the A458 towards Much Wenlock & Bridgnorth).

Stay on this road for, ooooh, miles. And miles. Through Wenlock, Morville, past Bridgnorth. Just keep following the A458. Eventually you'll go through Enville village, and shortly after get to a large crossroads. Turn right for Kidderminster.

Keep on this road into Kiddy. Past the Whittington Arms on your right, over the light-controlled crossroads, straight over the dual islands, straight over the next dual islands, straight over the next two crossroads, and right (under the viaduct) at the next island.

Next island, turn left.

At the next set of lights, turn left. Follow this road (do not turn off) until you get to a junction with a Shell station on your left. Turn right here, through the next set of lights, up the hill, and at the next island turn right.

Then follow the signs for the M5 / M42 / M40 etc etc.
