I have planned a visit at Plans later this month to show Stig why he's faster than me and want to have a nice drive with the Caterham the next day before going on the Eurotunnel at around 20:00 hours. If there aren't any I'll probably going to give London a visit, again. However, I can't imagine there aren't some nice roads in this area. Preferably nice country roads. Motorways are not my favourite.

I know I can't expect the same as Wales and Scotland but errr... Anyone? smile

Don't know too much about decent roads west of Maidstone, but the A20 isn't bad from Maidstone to the tunnel. Reasonably quiet as most of the traffic is on the M20.

Leave the M20 at J8 (Services and Leeds Castle exit) and pick up the A20 through Harrietsham and towards Ashford.

When you get to the outskirts of Ashford, it's worth jumping back on to the M20 for one junction to avoid Ashford itself. So that's back on at J9 and then leave again at J10. If you pick up the A20 past Tesco, it will take you all the way to the tunnel avoiding the M20.

Look out for the change of road layout near junction 11 which means that you now have to go up to the junction roundabout, go all the way round it till you are heading back the way you came before turning left back on to the A20. The reason for this is that there is a short stretch of dual carriageway between two roundabouts that prevents you turning right where you need to.

Thanks!

Although I am also looking for some roads worth a blast that aren't directly heading to Folkstone as I doubt the this route will take me 6 to 8 hours from Maidstone. biggrin
