Hi all! Inspired by Automobiles Magazine 1991 March issue, where guys made a trip "25 Alpin passes in 48 hours" with E30 M3 Sport Evolution, I'm planning to rent a car in Munchen (some BMW 1er) and make almost the same trip )

Start at:
Munchen
going to Garmisch
Fernpass
Silzer Sattel road
Timmeljosch/(Enterring Italy)
Jaufenpass
going to Bolzano
Karepass
Passo di San Pellegrino
Passo di Valles
Passo di Rolle
Passo di Cereda
Passo Duran
Passo Cibiana
Passo del Zovo
Passo di M. Croce di Comelico
going to to Cortina d'Ampezzo via Nr.51 road
Passo di Giau
Passo di Falzarego
Passo Campolongo
Passo Pordoi
Passo Sella
going to Stelvio pass
going to Davos through Livigno/(enterring Switzerland)
From Davos to St. Bernardino pass
visiting Lugano
to St. Gotthard via Tremola pass
going back to Munchen

Which will be the best month to go this way? And is it crazy or good idea, what do you think?

any advices welcome smile

Greets,

Juris

Very useful site at http://www.alpineroads.com

Remember some passes close in winter months, see site for details, also you'll be ilegal driving without winter tyres in Autria and perhaps other countries after Nov 1st. If your hoping to do it this year I would not leave it too long. You've just missed what I thought was a really good deal with SIXT they had M3 coupes and Conv's for hire think its finshed now though.

If your hiring from Munich you have to ask for the winters and pay extra, no idea of cost differences but might be worth checking hire cars from Austria instead.

I went to the Dolomites last year between seasons (1st week in may) and the roads were all clear and empty of tourists.
