Hi All,

Any suggestions on the best route from calais to reims/epernay region? Any great roads about or is it best just to blast down the autoroute?

Cheers,

J

Autoroute is probably the best bet. There aren't many good roads int he Pas de Calais as it is all abit flat ad featureless. It is less than 2h on the A26.

Beware - the A26 is named officially as "l'Autoroute des Anglais", presumably due to the motorway being financed purely by speed traps preying on British drivers.

If you want to enjoy some twisty roads then avoid the A26. Buy a michelin map and use the white and yellow roads they look narrow but are very often lovely smooth roads and very, very quiet. I would head slightly north of reims to Revin or Vresse which are north of Charleville-Mezieres. This is a very hilly area with rivers and forests and is great scenery as well as superb roads. There is a good dual cariageway that links this area south to Reims. I did this earlier this year and spent a great afternoon ragging my 911 around the roads....

Put Reims into your sat nav and use the avoid motorway option.

There are some great roads around there.

Agreed. Get yourself on the D966 to Reims as thats got some great sweeping bends and long straights
