Any suggestions for good roads off the A3 or any other road heading out of SW London for a quick saturday afternoon fix? Any good recommendations for pubs that do a decent lunch en route also appreciated.

come off the a3 at the milford junction (about 2-3mls past guildford) go straight over the roundabout, straight over the lights and then turn right at the next set of lights.follow down to the roundabout and tale the 1st 'r' off the roundabout and follow that road.....the a285.....i do like that road but be carefull to keep your eyes open for scamera vans going through chiddingfold and petworth....ive never passed one myself but i know they do frequent those places.....but there are absolutely NO static cameras on it which is very nice.

the a285 goes all the way down to the back of chichester,if you go in the early evening its more fun as there's not much traffic then.....also if you have a bird with you and you fancy a bit then keep your eyes open for signs for goodwood, there are some quiet pull-off places all round....aswell as some good country lanes too!!.

there are plenty of boozers with resterants on the a285 but the chippy in petworth is the nuts, you go through the town on the one way system and as you come out of there you have to turn 'l',the chippy is on the left.
