Dunkerque to Nurburgring avoiding Brussels

I'm taking the ropey VR6 for its first Nurburgring outing on the 28/29/30th August. When I went last year I did the E40 route and spent what felt like hours in heavy traffic on the Brussels ring road.

Can anyone suggest a better route?

There isn't any really,but if you keep out of rush hour the road is normally fine

There is the southern route, via Lille, Mons, Charleroi and Namur,
but I wouldn't recommend it, because there is some
shockingly bad road near Mons.

Why not just pop the Sat-Nav on shortest route and see
what happens ?
