Coming from Brescia, would Trafoi be a good place to stop overnight for an early start on Stelvio followed by Fluelapass? (Then heading up towards Freiburg)
Thanks

We stayed here on the North side at Prato allo Stelvio - http://www.zentral.it/

Rooms were lovely, decor excellent, and it was cheap as chips (70 euro a night in August, if iirc). The town had a couple of good restaurants as well.

Bormio was ok - lots of accomodation to choose from and plenty of bars / restaurants/ shops if you need them.

We stayed at the Miramonti Park Hotel - nice place, pool etc, but no garage. They did advise that the car park is watched at night and we left a 997 turbo there outside with no problem.

I'd pick somewhere in the Valdidentro area which is chock-full of hotels. If you are on a budget I would recommend San Carlo Hotel in Semogo. I stayed there two weeks ago for the grand total of £37.89 via booking.com. Comfortable room, helpful and friendly people, WiFi, breakfast AND dinner included.
