Anyone done this?

Is it a dead end pass (looks like that on google maps)?

grateful to hear back from anyone who has done it.

BTW - its the "bus hanging off the end of the clifff at the end of Italian job pass"

We did it in 2008 and it was truly Epic! You need to spend around 40 miles driving along the valley and then you hit the bottom. You drive through one of the longest tunnels I've ever been in too. It is indeed a dead end pass, but definitely worth doing.

The scenery is fantastic, as you pass the first of two lakes. It's perhaps not the best pass in the world, althouhg just knowing its the real Italian job pass gave it kudos. It was an epic day that I'll never forget, although I'm away with a load of Loti again from tomorrow and we're hitting the Nivolet on Sunday. I just hope it lives up to the first time!

Here are 3 vids of the entire pass, with a friend (with the camera) following me). Part 1 has teh tunnel and part three shows the top part.

This year we're staying at Hotel Relais Villa Matilda, but I have no idea how far away that is from Nivolet.

In 2008 we stayed outside Turin

The Elise in front of you sounds gorgeous - is that just a K-Series on a sports exhaust?

Stunning looking road. Need to visit the alps next summer I think. Scotland first...

Nope, that's me in the silver one. S1 Honda, but with a Janspeed exhaust that absolutely killed the power. I've changed that now to a 2bular exhuast.

Doh! Sorry, you did say the camera car was following you, I just missed that.

Bit O/T but what do you think to Honda-powered Elise? Is it a difficult conversion to get right (not looking at doing myself, just is there a lot of risk associated with a converted car) and does the new engine change the handling much - is weight distribution/CofG height affected much? Oh... and what's it like trying to get insurance?

Sorry, that probably deserves a new thread really...

Just got back from the trip with 4Pot and did the Nivolet for the first time.

Awesome stretch of road.

It is a bead end. You come out into a massive car park with a few cafes. there is a road that carries on but it was an offroad track and not suitable for a sports car.

Well worth the trip though.
