I can confirm that most of the roads around bath are, to be honest, a bit st.

Pulls together the best bits for me, which come to one really long straight on a backroad, and a single hairpin bend on a fairly picturesque common.

Having just had a weekend around Bath I'd agree the roads are poor..
Cost me a new tyre- they're that poor!

All of the roads nearby are poor - the small villages are all far too close together which means they are mostly restricted. Any country lanes are too narrow for going quick, and anywhere that is vaguely fun there is usually a camera van. I usually drive north towards Stroud as there are some nice roads around there.

The B1108 from Norwich to Watton is fantastic if you get a clear run. Very well sighted and a nice mixture of fast/slow sweepers. Do be wary of the concealed driveways though.

Watton to Thetford road is also a good one if you catch it early in the morning. Watch out for hidden vans if driving 8am - 6pm though.

We did it a few Sundays ago, there was a temp speed limit in a few places but it was pretty supersonic in places... Glad we didn't encounter any of those vans.

The B1110 Dereham to Holt, the B1146 Derham to Fakenham.

If you wan to do a longer run try the B1145/B1153/B1155/B1355/B1146 Bawdeswell to Gayton to Docking to Burnham Market to Fakenham to Dereham.

There are some really nice roads around Bath with some awesome twisties.

Problem is, they're all full of juggernauts!
