Normally I go A50 (from south side of Notts) / M6 but it's getting boring.

Another alternative which is less miles but 30 mins slower is the A537 - is this the Cat & Fiddle?
Is it a decent scenic route?

I'm just trying to find a nice driving route instead of the usual M'way bore.

Any ideas?

Ta.

I would try A610 to Ambergate, A6 to Buxton, Cat and Fiddle and A537 to Knutsford. Should take around 2 hours.

I would avoid A6 from Matlock>Buxton, its often clogged/busy and has a few Gatso etc. My suggestion would be A610/A6 up to Cromford and then a quick left/right and onto the A5012 (Via Gellia road) and then A515 to Buxton, before taking the A537 to Macc and on to Knutsford...

A5012 is worth the detour in its own right, and the A515 has decent views and more chances to pass slow cars. There's still the worry of the odd copper but its usually mobile vans/Plod bikes with radar guns (and thats usually at weekends to catch bikers)

This is basically the reverse of my run to Matlock on the bike smile

Did this route on the way back today - Cat and Fiddle really is a superb road even at 50mph with cameras.

No one on it when I came across so had a really good drive.
I can imagine that without the cameras it would quite easily be carnage on a fairly regular basis.

Thanks chaps thumbup
