Oxfordshire County Council proposes blanket 50 mph limit...
Discussion
Well, that's what the Oxford Mail states about the Council's Transport Plan:
'The plan also commits the Council to introducing 50mph speed limits on all single-carriageway rural roads'
I rang OCC about this and they assured me that no such commitment has been made - the Plan will be put out for public consultation in early October 2010. But watch this space - such a daft blanket speed limit proposal must be firmly opposed.

Q1 - how will they pay for the new road signs .'The plan also commits the Council to introducing 50mph speed limits on all single-carriageway rural roads'

Q2- since they can't afford SCP to enforce it, and Police funding is being slashed - how will they enforce it .
Sounds like a political white elephant .

ts are just intefering do-gooders who can't resist meddling in a vain attempt to justify their own pathetic existence. I cannot believe that the majority of Joe Public stand for this sort of thing - it says a lot about the state of the country.
