Trying to do a route for a possible meet and run in my area, any suggestions for good driving roads round this area?

B660 from Bedford to Kimbolton and then turn towards Rushden. Also, the Oundle to Corby road is good, but short.

A5 up from MK past Silverstone to Rugby has got some real good bits, a couple of 50 zones added recently though. There's also some real good lunch/meet spots. Heart of England/Globe/Crossroads in Weedon, The Boat/The Navigation in Stoke Bruerne.

B660 has to be the best Bedford to Kimbolton.

Great roads off the A43 from Towcester Mc's - up towards Wappenham, then in to Brackley, down from there to Tingewick and Buckingham and back via Stowe and back way into Silverstone, then back via Greens Norton and Caswell through Bugbrooke into Weedon and Heart of the Shires.

When your two year old will only sleep in the car (during the day) you soon find the best roads!

Problem with the B660 is that its so well known for being the EVO/Performance Cars team favorite road that its now been plastered with 40mph zones for most of the section south of kimbolton...shame as it is great.

The best stretch of the 660 is that which is North of Kimbolton - all the way to Peterborough. IMO.

Don't bother with the B660 north of Holme at the moment - dry summer + no money + fens = collapsed road surface + potholes the size of large children. You'll be much better off if you turn left immediately before the level crossing at Holme and following the road to Yaxley. You can then pick up the A15 back to the A1, and use the old A1 back to the B660, or some of the stunning white roads around Stilton across to Oundle and then use the B662 back to the B660.

I won't argue with you there, great driving road, although it could have some mroe challenging, tighter bends! It does have great surface though, shame half the time I'm down there I get stuck behind a bus!
It's the A427 by the way

I've read quite a bit about the B660 actually in Evo Magazine. Not to far away from me so I must go out that way one day for a spirited drive (when I have a car that's reliable!)

Edit: A bit out of the way but in Leicestershire, the B664 from Medbourne to Uppingham is a great road! It's quite a few miles long as well. Starts off with an undulating uphill 1/3 mile-or-so long straight which you can see pretty much the whole way up (good for overtaking those slower cars!), and then carries on through the hedgerows (hopefully not literally!) with some sweepimg bends, narrow bends, uphill and down hill corners, both long and short. It then goes down the edge of the Valley past the Eyebrook Reservoir with some uphill, chicanes and carries on with some more great bends to Uppingham. What makes it even bette is that it's nearly always deserted! I love driving along there. Definately looking forward to getting my Mini Clubman on the road to take it along there! Surface is pretty good on most of it as well
