Guess most of you in the West Midlands have experienced trouble between M6 J11-J6 with those heavy congestion, ATM and average speed cameras, anyone got ideas for faster routes to avoid that section during most of the day time and before 9pm?

p.s. NO TOLL ROADS PLEASE!angel

The only other option I can think of is the A5 and A38 (if you leave at junction 12), but I expect it will be just as quick to sit in the traffic on the M6

Who me ?

I used to have one from J10 - J7 .It involves going through Pleck( side roads following the A4148) and the A4148 to A34 ,etc
Try typing Walsall into Multimap.com .
Problem is that since I last used it , the A4148 from the A461 has had a fair bit of anti rat run work done .

If the M6 is stacked Southbound between 11 & 7 (it's usually between 10A & 8) then it's going to be heavy going, so you may want to try the following after 9 a.m.:

Off M6 South at 11 and pick up the A460 South towards Wolverhampton.
Through Featherstone
Under the M54
Keep following the A460 until you get to the Wolverhampton ring-road (big light controlled junction after the petrol station on the left and after going under a railway bridge).
Follow the signs for the A4123, and keep going - A4123 all the way to the junction with the M5
Turn left on to the M5 North, then follow signs for M6 South

You'll join the M6S at J7 so just one junction to get to before it (should) clear.

but is M5J1-M6(S) congested as M5J1-M6(N) too at that sort of time?

It'll be congested, but i) not as much as M5 J1(N) - M6 and ii) you'll have missed the main body of the jam between M6(S) 11 to 7.

Not too bad, but expect delays approaching Fiveways at the junction with the A4540 here:
