I have a few days off coming up and some airmiles to spend and im thinking about a trip down to south of france. Can get a flight to Nice and was thinking about heading to Monaco for the day / 1 night as its somewhere ive always wanted to go.

Thought I could also take in some of the roads down there en-route.

Has anybody made a similar trip and can offer some advice/do's/dont's etc?

Have also posted this in the holidays/travel section, but thought id post here too

Monaco is an astonishing place. Casino Square is a must-see - the best thing is just standing and watching all the cars arrive and seeing who gets out of them. If possible, try going there in the evening for the best experience. Also try and walk through the GP tunnel because there are some nice cars showing off the noise through there; this summer there was a 458 that went through five times and attracted a big crowd biggrin

If you have the time, there are some great roads to the north of Nice like the Col de Turini. Some of these are used for the Monte-Carlo rally so the views and the twists and turns are spectacular. They are quiet virtually all the time so you can have a good run up at whatever time you choose.

Finally, try to avoid parking on the street in places like Nice (Monaco is not as bad) because the Frenchies have no consideration for other cars and will reverse into you in order to park properly. The police, in my experience, couldn't care less about traffic regulations. Park in multi-storeys where you have more space. When you get there, you will see the state of all the cars and will know what I am on about.
