Calais to Lyon
Discussion
Hi everyone
I'm heading down to Lyon in a couple of weeks, and am looking for a slightly more interesting route than Autoroute the whole way. I'm looking for an 8-9hr route, and am happy to cruise on fast roads where I'm not missing anything. Searching these forums seems to suggest Autoroute to Reims, then pick up the D396 then D996 to Dijon. In an NSX, should be good times.
I'll probably stop off at the Reims grand prix circuit as I'm passing through, anything particular I should be looking out for or is it pretty easy to find?
I've laid out a route that it's a bit time heavy, I'll probably have to pick up the autoroute in Dijon. Is the D996 worth sticking with south of Dijon as shown?

From Lyon I'll be driving to Mejeve, and could head back to the UK from there or from Lyon. Given there will be snow, anything worthwhile out that way?
Cheers,
Rich

The new Reims bypass opened about a month ago and is now the default route so you'll have to keep an eye open and come of the Autoroute where it used to end. Easy enough to find the circuit from there though and worth it for a couple of photos.baby g said:

One of my favourite roads, gets a bit bumpy further south though but is usually deserted and great fun. The D959 from memory is also good but may be a bit out of your way.baby g said:

I have done that route several times as far as Bourg-en-Bresse (heading for Grenoble instead) and it's a lovely drive.Troyes south to Chatillon sur Seine take N71 (now reclassified as D671 then D971).
At Chatillon, turn east on the D928 to Leuglay.
At Leuglay, turn south on the D996 to Dijon.
Alternatively, stay on D928 to Recey sur Ource, then south on D959 to Is sur Tille, then the D903 to Dijon.
From Dijon, autoroute A39 to J7 then cut down through the Jura to Geneva. There are plenty of alternatives here, but simplest is N83 to Poligny then N5 all of the way to Geneva.
From Geneva it is pretty plain much sailing.
