So this weekend I was planning out a trip across Europe for July/August, but my other half is so terrified of going across roads with huge drops and no decent crash barriers that she is completely against the idea...

...so a question for you travelling folk, is it possible to have a memorable trip through Europe & Alps in light of the above (i.e. is there any good roads worthy of a "scenic trip" which meet the criteria of have a decent crash barriers?

Thanks in advance.

If you stick to motorways and main roads you'll be fine. I can't think of many really well barriered passes, the western side of Furka pass is but the drops are massive

Julierpass is a pretty one without severe drops come to think of it. It should be possible to plan a route that goes via the valleys and main roads rather than turning off to go over the passes themselves.

My wife discovered a fear of heights on our Swiss Alpine adventure, it won't work, book the beach or choose Black forest and Vosges or France

Steve the Tauern Autobahn through Austria into north-east Italy is tunnels not bridges. Less spectacular in my opinion but sounds like it could do the trick
