A377 Barnstable to Exeter
Discussion
I had a meeting in Bideford in North Devon today. I went the boring route of the A361 off the M5 to get there however on the way back I went down the A386 before cutting accross to the A377
- What a marvelous road, About 40 miles of twisty Blacktop that swooped up and down with straights long enough to get past one or two cars and pretty nice new tarmac to boot.
Had to slow down for a mile or so because of having Brake fade, the last bit from Crediton to Exeter wasn't that much cop tho.
Anyone from the area, know any other good roads round there?

People like you make me sick. That road averages two deaths per year. Just because it has a few swooping bends is no excuse for treating it like a race track. Next thing we know there will be speed cameras on it thanks to idiots like you. The best thing you can do is rev up, drive off and smash into a wall before you kill someone else. Did you know the authorities monitor sites like this looking for roads that are used as racetracks? I'm going to log off this site now and won't be back so don't try to argue.

Two deaths a year eh?
Big

Speeding even using the 1/3 lie, causes 1000 deaths a year.
Using the facts, we are looking at 600-700
Smoking about 120,000
Go

People die, live with it.
How many of those two deaths a year are down to speeding? Say 50% ...thats one death.
How many people die as a result of hospital negligence every year? about 50,000.
Just thought id put things into perspective for you.
Well I reckon as long as the next deaths are you dimwitted selfish twits then so much the better. I hope you have to "live with" the death of a near relation In the near future or better still cripple yourselves so you can't drive any more. it's what you selfish morons deserve.

Guys,
I live in Crediton and travel daily on the A377. It's a twisty , poorly surfaced lane with few passing places between Eggesford and Barnstaple. If you are suffering from brake fade then you are over-doing it and are liable to end up wrapped against a tree. Not to mention that tearing the arse out of the place alienates us locals and will get us infested with speed cameras. I'm not trying to spoil anyone's fun, far from it as I love fast cars and driving- (I'm racing a 911 GT3 in the Britcar series-) but there's a time and a place and the A377 isn't either.
A couple of years ago I went to the funeral of one of our neighbours son who was a passenger in a car that took a bend on the A377 far too fast and crashed killing three young men. He was only 20 and has paid the price for a moment of stupidity- I don't want anyone else to pay the same price- I've seen first hand the effect on his mother who is my wife's best friend.
Drive safely, drive well and if you really want the thrills take to the track.

Well, not wishing in any way to be offensive cos that would just be too easy. Has it occurred to you that these people have perfect right to end it all in a blaze of glory on a quiet road late at night?
