Right so... This is my second first car thread, I did have a Clio but it was crashed while I was learning. Uneconomical to fix so I was on the search for another 'first' car smile

As many of you will know insurance these days is a piss-take (£3k for the 1.5 dci Clio I had) so I was on the look out for another car which I could afford insurance on, I had saved up £3k for insurance and around £1.5k to buy a car. This left me looking at 1L Corsas etc getting quotes on them of around £2200, when one day a friend of mine suggested looking at Mk5 Fiesta Zetec S's. After laughing at him, for a long time, I looked up one and got a quote, with me on my own enough miles fully comp etc it came out as £2400! Mega chuffed!

So the hunt was on, and with only a week until my test I found a Fiesta I liked. In budget, not too much rust, high miles though but this didn't put me off, and more importantly local. Emailed the seller and asked him if he wouldn't mind holding on to it until I sat/passed my test. He didn't mind and I passed my test! Phoned him, went up to see the car that evening, purchased my insurance and drove away, so here we are.

Had it 2 weeks and 3 days and done about 1300 miles! Haha, loving it, and driving so far smile It's now fitted with PH logos to the right of the back box and to the left of the front number plate. Also has been de-wipered on the rear as it was broken! Will get some more recent photos up as I don't have a camera just now smile
Sorry for the novel! haha

Good cars those, just a shame they like to rust. Probably the last model of Ford I'd seriously consider buying as IMO they've all gone a bit downhil from here.

Hi mate, I own a mk5 zs as well. as for the rust, check the inner sills and basically the whole floor as they can get pretty bad (talking from experience). Get on zsoc.com for advice and guides smile

hope you enjoy it, they are a lot of fun but be careful as its a quick first car!

Great cars these, huge fun. My Mk5 rusted in exactly the same place under the rear lights too, from brand new. 3 times Ford tried to rectify it, and failed.

Yeah had all the the bottom door seals and had it jacked up to check underneath when I was viewing it! No serious rust either places though which is astounding for the 131k miles it has done. I am on ZSOC but like here its a bit nerve wracking to make a first post haha.

I am enjoying it! I'm not really a fast driver and I enjoy the power for overtaking, I am very aware it's possibly too fast for a first car though!

ETA: Also with it being a Y reg should it have a silvertop or a blacktop? It has a blacktop but many people suggest thats because the silvertop died?

Get your ass on the Scotland section of zsoc, we're all decent, and there's many meets in the north east usually organised by the normal faces, Scott, dace etc.

Cars tidy! Try get some standard 16's on and keep it tidy is all I'd say!

The engine you have is actually a zetec se that was developed by yahmaha and it doesn't have any thing in common with the normal zetecs

Granted most people will not know what it is, but it seems a strange choice, a bit like a secret handshake to sex offenders!

Sorry only just noticed your reply! Yeah I think I've seen your user name pop up on zsoc actually. with the Y reg yours is could of had either the silvertop or blacktop. Cars around this age tend to be hybrid cars like mine, I've got phase 2 interior minus the boot pop but phase 1 engine and wheels. If you have the grey interior then it would of been a silvertop. It doesn't really matter though, engines are cheap so if it goes bang its not the end of the world and its a good excuse to puma it biggrin
