1984 Ford Escort 1.3L Mk3
Discussion
I thought I'd share this on here seeing how much love the brown VDP 1500 thread got!, Goes to prove that there must be some retro love on here!
A few weeks ago I went to a local classic car show in Clacton-On-sea, It was a good show with plenty of nice cars to oggle over, as I was walking around I saw this mint looking Mk3 Escort in the distance that was for sale, This Escort had no price, just this sign saying offers accepted, So I started chatting to he owner, I asked how much it was, "I'm hoping to get about £500 for it" he said!, I didn't even bother haggling!, I just bought it there and then
It's a 1984 Escort 1.3 L with only 43000 miles on the clock, It's never been welded, it is as clean as a whisle, Comes from Candor Motors in Colchester from new, the same garage my dad used to buy his cars from!, It's got the CVH engine with the 4 Spd gear box, You could eat your dinner of the engine it's that tidy and it's so quiet with no rattles and knocks at all, MOT until October and taxed until the end of September.

This is as I saw it at the show, Since then I've removed the tow bar, repainted the wheels in a better silver and done a couple of other little jobs.
It's been great so far and get lots of comments and points as I'm driving about, It's my wife's daily driver at the moment though she is struggling with the sharp clutch some what...
Here's some better photos taken this weekend.

Going by the condition it must have been garaged, It's certainly never been restored at all.
The rear plate and window sticker are it's original but the front one is a repo, I used www.dealerplates.co.uk to make up the front one as it had a pre-2001 font when i bought it which i didn't like and also had the Candor Ford logo etched onto it.

I love it, brings back lots of good memories
My dad had exactly the same car/engine/trim level, same colour (sunburst red isn't it?), same year, his was B145 XYS, probably long gone into the scrapyard in the sky.
I remember as a kid playing with those pop-out cassette holders, retro-tastic
