£2k of Bargeness, S-type Jaguar

I was after an XJ8 and have been looking at them a while, ready to pounce on the right one when the Astra sold, But after a few phone calls, it became apparent that my standards are to high and my money to low. So my Second choice was an S-type, So with the Astra sold at 5pm last saturday I got on the phone and in the car to go look at a few suspects.
And this is it, the quickest I have ever brought a car after selling, 24hours to bargeness.
It's a 2 Owner car with the last owner having it for 8 years with full service history from Jaguar, 70k on the clock. perfectly straight. The only fault is 2 scratches in the rear bumper about 4 inches long. It needs a good clean inside, the front seats are dirty but no rips or tears, the rear seats look like they've never been sat in. Everything works as it should and it drives perfectly, 12 months mot, 6 months tax, in the last 3 months its had a full service £600 and 4 new tyres £600. I have all the service reciepts as well so can see exactly whats been done from day one
65 mile drive home at 70-80 all the way with a little blat in the here and there and averaged 33 mpg

it is the 3.0 fuel so far is no worse on same journey as my old astra 2.2 , so much has been replaced hopefully parts should not bean issue for a little while, all suspension and bushes has been replaced , discs battery . will keep this updated with how its going but loving it so far

MPG looks good, Insurance & RFL should be OK.
I think key thing is to realise that one big issue could cost not far off the cost of the car, but this means that there should be a few in scrap yards.

Right, so my first real weekend with the car and real test of fuel consumption, round town, shopping, short trips and verious running around. Still hovering about the 21-22 mpg, so please with that. Met with a couple of friends down the pub and may have another convert, could not believe the price I paid for the car ,spent half the evening on the phone looking at cars on autotrader after explaining man maths to him (he was on the look out for a polo for 7-8k and does not use a car for work)
I've still not had a chance to clean it properly yet, but tried some (buffalo) leather cleaner I had laying around on the drivers seat and it's come up a treat, now looks patchy where I'd not had time to do it all. Will get pictures to show before and after at some stage.
A lot of people commenting on parts and if something goes bang then it's the cost of the car. My way of looking at this as that I can do almost all work myself and there are plenty of places to get spares at reasonable cost.
I'd say it's the same with any cheapish car a new part can write it off. The Other half's A Class is the same, but your wouldn't think it on a 1.4 car.(whoever designed the oil filter location on that car should be shot!)
