MY SKUD
Rims originally powder black but had them done in gloss. They are also half the weight of originals which really sharpens up steering response and allowed use of fairly hard dampers. Soon to have more mapping taking it up between 5-10 bhp but much smoother torque curve. Trouble with BMN 170 bhp PD's is they all have siemens ECU's which really only work well with DPF fitted. Still exhaust flow not too critical on diesels as i rarely need to push it above 4000rpm. Bags of low end grunt on twisty bits and with suspension set up it's easy to stay in 4th the whole time. Handling has really made it all very usable. Guess it's the stoppers next!.
Other mods include Miltec lower grill kit to which i added my own mods and had centre grill hard glazed in same finish as rims.

I really like the Octavia VRS, and as an estate this one gains even more cool points as far as I'm concerned.

Cool points indeed. Our 25th Anniversary GTI will have to go in the classifieds in the coming year due to baby time and one of these, petrol or denzel, would be utterly perfect. I remember the chap who won the STI on here has one in white and it is nothing short of a stunning car.

If these were fitted with the 4wd systems then it would be completely perfect for us. What are they like in the rain and snowy conditions?

Yes they take some beating for space! Picked a huge fridge up in it the other week.
Why not buy a SCOUT. The later 140 tdi's map well and i think revo offer around 170 approx on these plus recent versions get the latest Haldex system. Also some 4x4's come with 140tdi too and tend to be less money. Vrs Tdi is best if you want to have fun and not too many fill up's.
Vrs's no prob in wet but Tdi's have very short 1st so care needed on lift off but once in 4th it.s a one gear car. I got around OK in the last january snow just turn the ESP off first!!. Never intended mine to be an Evo beater but i'm amazed at what it can stay with in midd range as torque up approx 400nm,( 350 std ) Even more so on the twisty bits now chassis is sorted. Know what you mean about fwd though! I nearly bought a 10 PLATE Superb 3.6 260 BHP 4x4 estate but i was pipped to it. Satin silver with smoke chrome alloys and all for VRS money. Daaaaammmnn!!. BUT OH THE MPG !!

Very nice, quite fancy one of these for the next car. Not usually a fan of black alloys but it really goes well with the blue.

What would you say is the better car, petrol or diesel? Or are they completely different beasts?

My preference is the Tdi.
TFSI is a lovely unit but guzzles juice if you are careless. My cars 205 bhp and 400nm all happens between 1500 + 4500rpm and into tall ratios. 70mph = 1970rpm and its all on tap at this point!! Fun = 40-45 mpg. PD's feel quicker to me but both CR AND PPD'S are great. CR's are quieter though.
