abit of something different and arguably underrated hot hatch of the 90's interested if anybody has past experiences of them, started by buying one with the intention of selling on but fell in love with it now i own 4 of them.

Quite the under rated car indeed, forged pistons and strong engine as standard makes them a good tuning option and turboing them has great effect! quite a few 250bhp+ ones going about and handdling isn't to bad either. just don't ever buy a non gti swift as my mum had one and it was shocking really. interior on the base model is sick inducing too
A middle aged bloke who lives near me has one of these, I'd never even heard of the Swift GTI until I saw his parked up in the local supermarket car park. It's a bit of a tatty shed now, but I have seen him out and about in it and it certainly looks like it can carry a bit of speed through the corners. Can't say I've ever read much into them, you must have really gotten the bug if you have 4 of them!

my turbo setup will be at stage 1 to start and should be 180 wheel power which isn't bad considering im weighting in at under 700kg and your right about the base modelsMastodon2 said:

lol definately got the bug and they are good little cars 100hp standard so fairly nippy and if you see him in the supermarket again can you do me a favour and leave a note asking if its for sale lol Great little cars these were way ahead of the competition when they came out in 1986 with 100'bhp from a 1.3' 16'v.
I'm also looking for a tidy low mileage one owner rust free example.
Good idea building one for stock hatch a well built one will do well in the new class B series it's finding all the bits that is difficult now. I was thinking about this, could you use a shell from the later model Subaru justy (?) is the shell the same?

absolutely cracking cars
i had one about 10 years ago, but then sold it to my brother who lives next door
very under-rated car, and would easily upset other hot hatches
every august we have a shutdown in work, which gives my brother plenty of time to weld the floorpan, ready for it's annual m.o.t
My mate had one back in the day, a J-reg. Remember it being pretty quick off the mark, nice seats and a gearknob shaped like a womans vibrating toy if I mind right!
His ended up mangled after chasing another friends Cossie, it rolled several times up a motorway slip road, he walked away unscathed and the car stood up pretty well considering it felt like it was made from tin!

glad to here another is still around were trying to do a register of them on a forum im on there's only 113 left on the road because of the rust issues lolCol 666 said:

the 0-60 is around 8 seconds which is quite respectable and your right seats are very nice standard semi race buckets with holes for your harnesses as standard and the gear knob is exactly how you described His ended up mangled after chasing another friends Cossie, it rolled several times up a motorway slip road, he walked away unscathed and the car stood up pretty well considering it felt like it was made from tin!
, and i wouldn't fancy rolling one 
had great fun in an ex girlfiends Swift, H plate in white, it was like a go kart in many respects, a bit boomy on the motorway, but very acomplished on the B roads.
paintwork and body were poor though, it faded horribly and I remember rust stains in a number of places, but the engine was a joy, reved its heart out all the time. I think we got decent mpg too.
