Replacing Spanky

With Spanky's demise as the front of my mind I decided to forgo getting another mustang, I've already got the pace car and I just felt it was time to get something else.
I heard from my insurance last week and they confirmed the valuation report and as the third party has accepted full liability I was getting a fairly generous payout. So the hunt was on...
Initially I found a 4th gen Camaro 5.7, but after speakign to the seller, he decided to hike the price up by another £200 so I walked away. Thankfully I did though as while the styling of the 4th gen is ok (the front looks good, the rear is nothing to get excited about) I much prefer the stylings of the 3rd gen, and so it was to be that a man in the land which contains scots, scotslands, has agreed to sell me his 3rd gen for a very generous price.
the reason for the generous price is such, the car is based at the very northern edge of scostlasnd, in a town called Thurso, exactly 681 miles from where I live.
So upon commencing negotiations I mentioned that I would have to fly up there and then drive the 681 miles back to the land of Eng, Englad! and he dubtifully agreed to remove the cost of the travel from the price of the car!
So in the coming weeks I will be taking part in an epic roadtrip, purchasing a car which I have not inspected, nor actually laid eyes on, and then driving it 681 miles back to my lands! I am in the process of recruiting co drivers, but as it stands I may be doing this alone, OR NOT, because as is my want, I have purchased in previous years that god given device, the iPhone! so I will be fully documenting, with pictures (god bless his photobucket app, and all who sail in it) and text, my epic journey from the many lands of scot, scortslsand!

Love the shape and lines of the 3rd gen, one of my favourite cars in terms of looks. The 4th gen in comparison looks like a bit of a dog in my opinion.
The date has been set, purely by the fact that there are no flights to Wick on the weekends. I will be flying up on the 6th of October (Thursday) Leaving Heathrow at 07:25 landing in Wick at 12:00, I figure by the time I get out the airport and sort the cash it’ll be about 1-1:30, then hit the road, aiming to be home by 2am.
I've started looking in all the local shops for offers on energy drinks, and I'm plotting my route home, I've checked my AA cover and they will rescue me if I get stuck at any point, so holy crap, I'm actually doing this. As I mentioned in my previous post I'll start a new live road trip thread here and blog my entire journey (complete with pics of stewardesses) from heathrow to Wick and back to Surrey.
Once home I'll replace the front number plate with something a little smaller, right now it makes the car look like Mater out of cars.
I also think I'll take the stripes off as they look wierd running under the hood "vents". might spray the vents black, possibly.
I'll now take questions:

If you need somewhere to stop over about half way (Scotch Corner), get in touch - payment will be a short ride out and the aural pleasure of 5.7litres of V8.

Is your route home intended to be the quickest way back to your bed, or do you have time to take in some of the best driving roads in the UK while you're up there?
If you do i strongly suggest you get in contact with those in the know to find some decent roads that aren't to far of the most efficient route. My own suggestion would be the A939 from Grantown-on-Spey down to the A93 that'll take you to Pitlochry. According to google it's only 45 minutes longer than the A9.
