My E61 M5 to replace the RS6
Discussion
The RS6 is a great car, but I have always hankered for one of these.
Initial impressions are wow! What a car.
The RS6 was imperial in it's delivery of low down torque and pace, and the M5 does lack that low down torque.
The M5 certainly takes more driving, it is not a simple case of leave it in D and then drive like the Audi.
The box needs to be worked, but the changes using the paddles are so quick it is not an effort.
It just feels like a drivers car, whereas the Audi although supremely stable just lacks that wring me neck if you dare feel.
I have not done many miles in the M5 yet, but I already feel that this is the best car I have ever owned.
Grinning like a cheshire cat every time i get near her!
I have told the wife that this a keeper.
She said that I appeared to be nonchalant when driving the M5. I said that it is just so good it makes me quietly content.
Here are a few pics (I am not and do not profess to be a photographer).

Well done mate. Was it a C5 or C6 you had? I take it youve seen this:

Hi Eddiehttp://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?stor...
It was a C5 I had.
Yes I have seen your post , and very good reading

I think we are in agreement regarding the different nature of the cars.
I thought about the latest RS6, they are seriously quick as I found out at the last VMax event.
I could not believe how much quicker the C6 is over the C5. Grizz's car was like a rocketship!
He p*ssed all over me from the drop start. I thought my car had stalled!
The C6 RS6 is starting to come down to 40K, but my budget cannot unfortunately extend this far.
Small compensation I know
is the M5. The RS6 is one hell of a car and a pleasure to drive, but the M5 is just in a different league.
Still considering a remap for the next VMax event.
Also considering a trip to the ring but insurance worries are curtailing my keenness for that.
Crash at the ring, you are liable for your damage to the circuit, your own cars damage and if deeemed appropriate any damge to anyone else suffers from your accident. Could be very expensive if you get it wrong! Can you not get insurance to cover this?
