Being a believer in buying larger cars at the cheaper end of the market here are a few pics of my recent ebay bargain, purchased about 7 weeks ago to replace my dead Volvo 960.
I placed a couple of bids and actually won on a 2nd chance offer after the higher bidder failed to contact the seller, cost was £345.00, mot until April 2012, no tax, some history and 2 owners from new with 112435 miles when purchased. Everything works apart from the headlight switch needing a bulb now, wifey would like me to get the back windows lightly tinted to keep it cool for the grandkids.
We recently did a week away covering 714 miles all in and wrked out it had acheived an average of 36mpg not too bad for a 2 litre petrol, saying that I'm not particularly heavy with the right boot.
It suffers from the usual C Class rust on the front wings by the bumper and the rear wheel arches are just starting to bubble so all easily fixed.

I must admit I was suprised at the price I got it for, but the chap selling it had listed it for the third time after previous winners backed out without even viewing, he offered it to me and I was after a C Class although preferably an auto but at the price I was offered I could hardly say no.

I too had a manual 'box, the foot operated handbrake makes stopping on a hill a fine ballet dancing act but I didn't have the centre console/armrest. How do you find changing gear with it there, does it get in the way?
Tha car originally had the flat storage tray, the console and wind deflectors cost £15.00 and were the result of a trip to the breakers in Pimhole, Bury. The breakers down near me are few and far between so tend to be pricey, plus they don't like you climbing cars, not like the old days.
